Each year, Jewish Family Service volunteers donate thousands of hours helping us help others in our community. Whether you love to draw, read, play sports, teach, make new friends, or just talk on the phone, someone nearby needs your help.

Big Pals (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Young adults serve as friends and mentors to Jewish children being raised in single-parent families.
Booties, Caps & Blankies! (Volunteer opportunity for all ages)
Knit/crochet or collect new booties, caps and receiving blankets for premature and newborn infants at the Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa.
Centerpieces for Tzedakah (Volunteer opportunity for all ages)
Create centerpieces from baskets, ribbon, and colorful food containers to use as decorations for any simcha. Donations from display of the centerpieces provide needed funding for the Food Pantry.
Clerical Support (Volunteer opportunity for teens and adults)
Help in the Jewish Family Service office providing clerical support for on-going programs or specific events.
Closet/Home Organizer (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Work with a homebound individual to get rid of "clutter" and organize the closets and the home.
Conference and Workshop Planning (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Assist with the planning, organizing and follow through necessary for a community conference. Help is needed for clerical work, mailings, telephone and other communication assistance, marketing, set-up, group facilitators, and logistics.
Court Partnership (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
The Court Partnership program works with Victims Outreach training volunteers to act as objective observers in Dallas County Criminal Courts, most specifically Family Violence Courts.
Create a Card (Volunteer opportunity for all ages)
Artists of all ages (from preschool on up) create greeting cards to be delivered with Kosher Meals on Wheels or holiday packages.
Decorate Food Pantry Bags (Volunteer opportunity for children)
Children decorate the bags for Food Pantry and holiday packages.
Event Planning (Volunteer opportunity for adults and children)
Assist staff and other volunteers to create wonderful events on behalf of the agency. Organize, set-up, help with logistics, decorate, there is always a need for additional hands.
Food Pantry (Volunteer opportunity for teens and adults)
Help organize and distribute food to clients who meet financial eligibility requirements, or organize a drive to collect needed items.
Friendly Visitors (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
A senior in need of companionship is matched with a friend in the community who drops in on a regular basis to chat and share some special time in or out of the home.
Holiday Basket Distribution (Volunteer opportunity for adults and children)
Assist with the organization, purchasing of items, data entry/mail list, routing, packaging, distribution and coordinating volunteers. Baskets are distributed prior to Passover and Rosh Hashanah.
Interpreters (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Interpreters volunteer their services speaking Farsi, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, and Yiddish.
Job Search Resource Center (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Volunteers provide clients direct access to numerous job leads and resources, including the Internet. As mentors, they offer insight and personal knowledge related to the world of work.
Kosher Home Delivered Meals (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Drivers bring kosher meals into the homes of people who are not able to cook for themselves.
Marketing (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Publicists, graphic artists, photographers, printers, writers and others help promote Jewish Family Service in the community.
Palm Card Distributor (Volunteer opportunity for teens and adults)
Distribute palm cards to our community congregations on behalf of
our Family Violence program.
Personal Resource Organizers (PRO) (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Go to the homes of elderly community members to help them organize their bills, insurance forms, checkbook, and other paperwork.
Professional Pro Bono Services (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Experts in various professions (e.g., doctors, lawyers, accountants) provide pro bono services.
Study Buddies (Volunteer opportunity for teens and adults)
Meet with youngsters from Jewish day schools who need help with schoolwork—either with general organization and study habits or particular subject areas.
Transportation (Volunteer opportunity for adults)
Drive clients to medical appointments, to the grocery store, or on short errands.
Youth Mitzvah Central
Jewish Family Service’s Youth Mitzvah Central coordinates volunteer opportunities—both through our agency and others in the community—for students needing to fulfill b’nai mitzvah projects or school community-service requirements. |
