Jewish Family Service is a non-profit agency providing mental-health and social services to people of all ages, all religions, and all economic levels.  We help people develop the skills they need to support themselves, maintain independent living, and build healthy, strong relationships with family and friends. The work we do strengthens individuals, families, and communities in North Texas.

We all need help from time to time.  And sometimes, our family’s assistance and our friends’ encouragement is not enough.  That’s why Jewish Family Service is here.  Established in 1950, our continuum of nationally accredited services is available to address a wide variety of life’s transitions, as well as unexpected crises.  We work on a sliding fee scale, to make sure that everyone has access to the services they need—regardless of their ability to pay.

In addition to the caring heart and willing ear, Jewish Family Service licensed professionals have the education, the expertise, and years of experience to make a positive difference in thousands of lives each year.

Here’s what we’ve heard from a few of the people we’ve helped:

“My family and I had been evacuated due to Hurricane Katrina.  I was a very stressing time for us all as we had to cope with this disaster.  We were in Dallas with very little food and clothing.  I was referred to your center by a warm-hearted person.  Everyone was so nice, which made things much easier for us.  You all gave us clothing, toys, food, and started us on the road to finding a job.  For all of that, I would like to thank you.”

“I want to thank you for your Lifeline service.  I originally got the service for my husband, but when he passed away, I decided to keep it.  Last month, I had an accident.  .  I tripped over a garden hose and hit my head and fell into the swimming pool.  When I got out of the pool, I saw a lot of blood.  I hit the Lifeline button on the phone—and oh, what a wonderful thing it was to hear that woman’s voice at the other end.  She called an ambulance and talked with me until the ambulance came.  What a wonderful service that is.  Thank you.”

Fee Statement

At Jewish Family Service, charges vary from program to program, and we operate on a sliding fee scale.

In our Clinical Department and our Career & Employment Department, we charge for a first-time appointment.  After that initial meeting with a member of our professional staff and a confidential financial assessment, the fee for any specific service may be adjusted—all the way to $0 if necessary.  In Gerontology Services, there are pre-set fees for each specific service.  We do bill Medicare for applicable services and accept assignment of those fees, so that there is no additional cost to the client.

People of all income levels use our services.  Some pay the full fee.  We use community funds to help those who are not able to do so.  We do file medical insurance, and some services are billable to Medicare, Medicare supplements, and Medicaid.

We work to ensure that our fees are never an obstacle to getting necessary service.
